MRS. JAMES BURNS PASSES AWAY AT HOME IN OXFORD

Mrs. James Burns, aged 77, a well-known and highly respected resident of Oxford, died in that place last night at 11 o’clock after an illness of a little over a week. Mrs. Burns succumbed to a complication of diseases.

Surviving are seven children, William and C. F. Burns. Mrs. Thomas Meade and Mrs. John Schneider, all of Cosgrove; Joseph Burns and Mrs. James Flannery, both of Oxford and Mrs. J. G. Donahue of Morse.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning. The cortege will leave the home at 9 o’clock and proceed to St. Mary’s church at Oxford where services will be held. Burial will be in the Oxford cemetery.

Mrs. Burns was born in Ireland coming to this country when she was fifteen years old. She lived at Cosgrove, Iowa until about ten years ago when she and Mr. Burns moved to Oxford. Her husband died about six years ago. (Source: Iowa City Press Citizen, 10 Jan 1917, Wed, pg. 4)
