Last rites for Edward C. Meardon, 76, West Branch, were held in Iowa City Feb. 2 with burial in Memory Gardens cemetery. Mr. Meardon died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City Jan. 29.

The son of Fred W. and Mary Ady Meardon, he was born in Johnson county and was graduated from Iowa City high school in 1922. He was married to Kathry Hill at Nashua June 1, 1925. He had farmed for 54 years in Scott township, Johnson county.

He is survived by his wife, 4 daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Adams, Santa Maria, Calif.; Mrs. Wilbur (Janice) Moon, Canoga Park, Calif.; Mrs. Reese (Diana) Greer, Coralville and Mrs. Richard (Sandra) Wilker, Creston; 2 sons, Edward H., Iowa City and Gerald M., West Branch; 16 grandchildren and a brother, William A., Iowa City. He was preceded in death by a daughter and brother.
