Andrea “Andi” Marie Hungate

Andrea “Andi” Marie Hungate was born on March 3, 1975, and she passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on July 28, 2023, at the age of 48. Andi was born in Omaha, NE, where she lived until moving to Iowa City, IA in 2004. Andi lived at home with and was cared for by her family before moving into the care of Systems Unlimited in 2014. During her stay with Systems Unlimited, Andi gained a second family with one of her care providers, Tia Jones and her family. Tia spent a great deal of time caring for Andi and taking her out into the community to explore. Andi also enjoyed her time with Infinity Dance Group and her dance instructor, Sarah Furnish. Above all else Andi loved her family—they were her entire world.

Despite many challenges in life, Andi made it her business to always be the center of attention. Andi’s older sister and younger brother often teased her about being mom’s favorite and she would signal that she was proud to hold that title. Andi enjoyed dancing, listening to music, snacks, and most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Andi was a woman of few words, but she always had her own special way of communicating with her loved ones and for that, she will always be loved and remembered; and she will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Andi is survived by her loving mother Zoila “Penny” Rodriguez, her favorite sister Jacqueline Hungate, her favorite brother Adam Rodriguez and his wife Christiane Rodriguez, and her nephews Lukas and Benjamin Rodriguez.

There will be no services for Andi at this time. Andi’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Systems Unlimited.
