Jean Ann Whiting, 88, of Iowa City died on July 25, 2023, at Oaknoll Retirement Residence.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Norfolk, NE.

Memorial donations may be made to the Iowa City Public Library in care of the ICPL Friends Foundation.

Jean was born October 8, 1934, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Emma Larsen Whiting. She received her BBA and her MA from the University of Iowa. She was a teacher in Omaha, NE for 33 years and in Norfolk, NE for 6 years, retiring in 1996. In retirement, she volunteered for 25 years at the University of Iowa in the hospital gift shop and the Cancer Information Center. She was also a reading mentor at a local school. Jean was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her niece Diana Blackburn and nephews David and Mark Whiting.
