Edwin Klenk, 79, a former Iowa City resident, died Monday at his home in Postville, after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the George L. Gay Funeral Home, where visitation begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Oxford Masonic Lodge services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 10, 1899, in Oxford, a son of John and Anna (Beck) Klenk. He was a retired auto mechanic and worked for many years at Nall Motors where he was known as “Dutch”.

He married Edith McCracken, Jan. 1, 1930, in Iowa City. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iowa City and Canopy Lodge AF & AM in Oxford.

He is survived by one son, Ed, of Postville; two daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) Clark of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Young of San Antonio, Texas, nine grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Geneva Brant of Tucson, Ariz.
