Funeral services for James Henderson, 83, Oxford were held Aug. 16 at the George L. Gay Funeral home, Iowa City. Burial was in Oxford cemetery.

Mr. Henderson died Aug. 14 at Iowa City Care Center following a lengthy illness.

The son of Carney and Lucy Henderson he was born Aug. 10, 1895 in Homestead. He married Bessie Schrader in Oxford July 3, 1930. He was formerly employed by the Englert and Wicks ice companies.

Survivors include 2 sons, Harold, Tipton and James, West Liberty; 5 daughters, Mrs. Jack (Anna) Laschansky, Tipton; Mrs. Denny (Irma) Matthiessen, Muscatine; Mrs. James (Mary) Halstead, Iowa City; Mrs. Bob (Edna) Keefer, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mrs. Amos (Helen) Greenhaw, Kissimmee, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Mrs. Irma Lawrence, Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. Minnie Barnes, Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 4 brothers, a sister and a grandson.
