Leslie Hermine O’Leary, 69, of Iowa City passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2023 at Mercy Hospital.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Systems Unlimited.

Leslie was born on March 1, 1954 in Salzburg, Austria. She was raised by her mother Anna (Kampful) DeBrie and step father John DeBrie. Leslie lived in New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania before the family settled in Iowa City in 1962, where she graduated high school.

She was a hard working and devoted employee at Uptown Bill’s Small Mall for Leslie’s Luxuries before it permanently closed.

Leslie has been in the Systems Unlimited Program for many years and was home to her. She gained friends that became family to her including the caregivers.

Leslie was active in many of the activities and events through systems unlimited but most important to her was family especially her daughter, parents, sisters and grandchildren.

She was such a bright light for those who knew and loved her.

Leslie is survived by her parents Anna and John DeBrie of Iowa City, a daughter Mellisa O’Leary of Tiffin, two sisters Cheri (Scott) Arneson of Coralville and Michele DeBrie (John Meyer) of North Liberty, two grandchildren Drayden and Logan Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
