Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph (Esther) Ruzek, 55, were held in West Branch Feb. 9 with the Rev. Walter H. Niermann officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery, Iowa City.

Mrs. Ruzek died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Feb. 7 after suffering a stroke while at work at the Howard Johnson motel.

The daughter of Oral and Sophie Spawn Fowler, she was born at Iowa City April 10, 1922 and was married to Jospeh Ruzek at Tyler, Texas Sept. 24, 1944.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Mark, at home; 3 daughters, Tammy, at home and Mrs. William (Beverly) Nutt and Mrs. Danny (Debby) Fuhrmeister, both of Iowa City, a brother Oral Fowler, Iowa City; 4 sisters, Grace Fowler, Mrs. Ione Sible and Mrs. Mary Brooks, all of Iowa City and Mrs. Gertrude Fleck, Cedar Rapids and 2 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son and a brother.
