Karen K. Kutcher, 57, of 908 DeForest Avenue, Iowa City died Friday, August 26, 2005, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 am, August 31, 2005, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Iowa City with the Revenend Karl Divine-Koch officiating. Sunday parking ordinance will be in effect for parking around the church for the funeral. Burial will be in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery, rural Hills. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Karen’s memory On line condolences for Karen’s family may be sent through our website

Karen was born in Iowa City, July 30, 1948, to Clair and Madlyn (Owens) Halter. She gradated from Mid Prairie High School in 1966. She married Jim Kutcher, September 24, 1982. Karen was a housekeeper at the Quad dorm, University of Iowa for a number of years. Karen also baby sat for a number of years, for Karen dearly loved children. Karen was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

Karen’s family includes her husband, Jim; two sons, Brett Halter and his wife, Kristina of Iowa City and Jeff Halter of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren, Lea, Kimberly, Alexander, Krystal and Wayne; her mother, Madlyn Halter of Iowa City; three sisters, Janet Wedvick of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cheryl and her husband, Richard Gioimo of Iowa City and Pam Halter of Iowa City; one brother Greg Halter of Sandstone, Minnesota; six nieces and nephews, Cristina, Justin, Chad, Cody, Ashley and Jesse and 3 great nieces and nephews, Dominic, Diamond and Tylyn.

Karen was preceded in death by her father and brother, Terry Halter.
