Francis H. Bahmler, age 89 of rural Iowa City, died at his home under hospice care Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

Francis was born November 4, 1933, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the son of Lance and Ethel (Scharf) Bahmler. Attended West Branch schools before entering the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Following his return to this area from service he married Carol Ann Hills at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. He has been a farmer his whole life and also enjoyed his time working for West Branch Schools.

His family includes three children, Janice Brandenburg (Brad), Jackie Frederick (Nate), and Bret Bahmler (Mary Feeney); four grandchildren, Rick Butler (Stefanie), Ryan Butler, Samantha Frederick, and Nathan Frederick; 6 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Alejandra Butler, Lilly, Paxton, Dane and Jayce Butler; and brother, Clarence Bahmler (Judy).

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carol; and great grandson, Dylan Butler.
