Leroy John Mullinnix, 77, died Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Friday, December 23, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Father Joseph Sia will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the Church from 10 AM to 11 AM. Burial will be at River Junction Cemetery, following a luncheon at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick’s Church or to Table to Table.

Leroy was born December 31, 1944 in Iowa City, the son of Stanley and Rosella (Schwab) Mullinnix. He was a graduate of Riverside High School and received an Associate degree from Kirkwood Community College. Leroy served in the US Navy. On July 20, 1968 Leroy married Delores Schmitz in West Union.

Leroy was a computer programmer and operator at the University of Iowa and then Pearson.

Most important to Leroy was his family. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and attending their activities. Leroy also enjoyed gardening.

Leroy is survived by his 3 sons, Steve (Staci) of Dallas, TX, Mike (Heather) of Coralville, and Jason (April) of Overland Park, KS; eleven grandchildren, Warren, Elaine, Harvey, Luther, Andrew, Madison, Lucas, Jackson, Liana, Caleb, and Gemma; two brothers, Harold (Mary Ann) Mullinnix and Jerry Mullinnix both of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Janine Mullinnix of Mesa, AZ; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Gurnett, Janice Roberts, Ron (Louise) Schmitz, Linda Paine, Norma (Larry) Stanfield, Dale Wauters, Vernon (Cindy) Schmitz, Lois Akey, Marilyn (Randy) Stepan, Victor (Karen) Schmitz, and Cindy (Forrest) Leveile; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores in 2011; his brother, Jim; and brothers-and sister-in-law, Don Gurnett, Bill Roberts, Jim Paine, Mike Akey, Bonnie Mullinnix and Leona Wauters.
