Mary Dlouhy, 92, of Hills, passed away on December 16, 2022 at Windmill Manor.

A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will follow from 4-6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mary was born on May 15, 1930 to Ambrose and Rose (Roit) Harney on a farm located two miles south of Solon. She started school in Solon, then moved and attended five different one-room schools in Johnson County through 8th grade. She graduated from U High in 1948.

On December 27th, 1949 she married Milo L. Dlouhy at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and to this union, one son was born.

Mary worked at Scott’s Dime Store during high school and became a stay at home mother after her son was born. After some time, Mary headed back into the workforce. She remained at Moore Business Forms as a payroll/accounts payable clerk for over 41 years, as well as the bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Milo’s Conoco for 15 years, until her retirement in 1994.

Mary and her husband enjoyed many hobbies such as: gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, camping and going mushroom hunting. They regularly bowled with their good friends, Mick and Maizie Kuenster. Mary always had her door open for her grandkids and great grandkids as she loved her family.

Mary is survived by her son, Milo “Butch” (Daise) Dlouhy; siblings: Ed Harney, David Harney, Patrick Harney, Virginia Ockenfels, and Rose Langenberg; sister-in-law, Emily Harney; grandchildren: Milo (Shannon) Dlouhy II, Brandi Dlouhy, Dale (Taryn) Dlouhy, Nathen (Laura) Dlouhy, Stephanie Dlouhy, Justin Dlouhy-Temeyer and Eric (Jessica) Dlouhy-Temeyer as well as 22 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Milo; siblings: Francis Harney, Vincent Harney, Thomas Harney, Paul Harney, Ambrose Joe Harney, James Harney, Therese Harney and Vivian Clemen; sisters-in-law: Joyce Harney, Sandy Harney, Leona Harney and Marguerite Harney as well as her brother-in-law, James Clemen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Milo Dlouhy II.
