Evan Leroy Watkinson, 91, of West Branch died peacefully at home on November 23, 2022.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday November 28, 2022 at The Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Ave, Iowa City, Iowa from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to West Branch Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department or Cedar County Senior Citizen’s Meal Services.

Evan was born March 24, 1931 in Downey, IA to Ovie and Elizabeth (Slaughter) Watkinson. He was married March 13, 1948 in Tipton, Iowa to Norma (Goldesberry) Watkinson. During their 71 years of marriage they resided in the Hills, Lone Tree, Iowa City & West Branch area and had 6 children.

Survivors include sons, Donnie Watkinson of Lone Tree, Iowa; Mike (Lori) Watkinson of Apple Valley, Minnesota; and Jerry (Shirley) Watkinson of Davenport, Iowa; son-in-law, Jay Gunden of Farwell, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Barb Watkinson of Dyersville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren as well as many great grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley (Ron) King of Iowa City, Iowa.

Evan was preceded in death by his wife Norma; his parents; brothers, Pearl & Walter; sisters, Edna, Alice, & Mary; daughter Peggy; sons Charlie & Jeff and great grandson Wyatt.
