Death of a Volunteer.

Mr. Lewis Swinehart, a volunteer of Comp. K, 15th Regiment, died at the residence of Jesse Berry in this city on the morning of the 11th inst., aged 32 years. He was an old and highly esteemed citizen of this town, and we learn from his fellow soldiers that he fought bravely in the “glorious 15th” at Contreras, Churubusco, Chepultepee, and other places. --- Wherever the 15th was, he was there. But he has not been permitted long to enjoy glory so well and so bravely won. He served his country well until the close of the war, and when she no longer needed his services, he came home and laid him down to die among his friends. A large concourse of citizens followed him to the tomb, where he was buried with the honors of war, and paid the last tribute of respect to bravery and moral worth. Peace to his ashes.
