Herk Travis, 56 of Coralville died Sunday, August 21, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Instead of a funeral the family will have a time of remembrance on Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. Patrick Church Hall, 435 S. Linn Street(across from the church) where a light lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Herk was born June 2, 1949 in Muskogee, OK the son of Hergott Kit and Lorene Travis. On September 1, 1973 he married Susan Murray in Lovilia, Iowa. He worked as an auto mechanic and loved working on cars. Herk was a avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed his trips to Daytona every February.

Although Herk and Sue were not blessed with children of their own-He leaves behind many close family members and friends that were very important to him. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sue of Coralville, Iowa by his four brothers, Jimmy, Jerry, Jesse and Joey and by his two sisters, Janice and Janey.

Herk is preceded in death by his parents.
