Diane Frei, 80, of Iowa City, passed away on November 8, 2022 at Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Marsha Smith officiating. The interment and committal service will take place at 2:30 p.m. at East York Cemetery in Williamsburg.

Diane was born on May 12, 1942 in Albia, Iowa to Milton and Inez (Glenn) Harding. She graduated from Wilton Junction High School in 1961.

After “pen-palling” a certain Army veteran named Lloyd Frei for quite some time, they became a couple and the pair were married on June 17, 1961 in Wilton Junction and to this union, four children were born.

Lloyd and Diane settled in Iowa City where they raised their family. Diane worked as a crossing guard for several years.

In her spare time, Diane enjoyed embroidery, reading, fishing in Minnesota and spending time with her family. During her younger years, she loved to swim, roller skate, spending time at the family cottage in Clear Lake, and taking part in Campfire Girls.

Diane is survived by her children: Bryan (Karin) Frei, Troy (De) Frei and Cynthia (Tom) Robinson; sisters: twin, Doris DeWitt and Beth Deyth; sisters-in-law: Joyce Fountain, Loretta Snyder and Judy (Jim) Werth ; 11 grandchildren: Andrew, Anthony, Ashley, Evan, Eric, Kyle, Madison, Morgan, Jaimee, Kimberly and Sherisha as well as seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Lloyd in 2017 and her son, Kevin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
