Joseph Weldon, 73, of Iowa City, passed away on November 2, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

An open house visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in c/o Emy Weldon.

Joe was born on December 6, 1948 in Marengo to Bruce and Viola (Hite) Weldon.

Joe married his first wife, Kate and to this union, three children were born. The couple later divorced and in 1989 he married Emy Lou Grizel in North Liberty. The pair enjoyed blending their family’s together and they all endured many fun adventures together over the years.

Joe worked maintenance his entire career and prior to retirement, worked at Ace Hardware for five years.

He enjoyed fishing, wrestling, watching Gunsmoke and old war movies and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Emy; children: Nick Weldon, Rob Weldon, Mike Weldon, Lucy Fincher, Carolyn Keely, Ed Shaw, Melissa Powers and Michael Goodman; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Weldon and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa Fetters; siblings: Bruce, Zelda and Marilyn and a grandson, Clayton.
