Judith Kay Huling, 78, of Iowa City, passed away on September 18, 2022 surrounded by her family.

An open-house gathering for family and friends will be held from 12-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at The Kirkwood Room in Iowa City.

Judy was born on January 30, 1944 in Fairfield, Iowa to Marvin and Luanna “Stubby” (Barnes) Klein. Following graduation from Fairfield High School, she received her associates degree in medical technology from Northwest Institute in Minneapolis. Judy worked as a medical technologist at the University of Iowa’s pathology department for over 21 years until her retirement in 2003.

On October 24, 1995 Judy married Dave Huling in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

Throughout the years, Judy had several hobbies. She enjoyed crafting, baking, attending Hawkeye Women’s Basketball and Hawkeye Football games, tending to her yard and flowers and especially spoiling her grandkids.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Dave; son, Brad (Marsha) Tomson; brother, Terry Klein; granddaughters: Courtney Tomson (Danny Leeper) and Paige (Christopher) Lenz and her great grandchildren: Adriel Leeper, Kyree Leeper, Ehlani Leeper, Flynn Lenz and Aiven Lenz. She was preceded in death by her parents and her great granddaughter, Amaya Lenz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in support of women’s athletics to the University of Iowa Center for Advancement, P.O. Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244-4550. On the memo line or on a note attached, please indicate "Gift in memory of Judy Huling.” Donations may also be made to an entity of the donor’s choice in honor of Judy or a tree may be planted in her memory.
