John Henry Bates, age 55, of Iowa City, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at his home with his family surrounding him.

John was born September 28, 1966, in Iowa City, the son of William J. “Bull” Bates and Virginia K. (Nelson) Bates. Family that survives are siblings, Ruth Beemer, Marnie Clark, and Jim Bates.
