The exciting moments of pregnancy have turned to sorrow and heartfelt loss with the death of Oscar Ramon Linley. He was born and died at 3:23 a.m. on August 2, 2005, weighing 5 pounds 3 ounces and measuring 19 inches in length.

Brenda and Jodi will greet family and friends at 10:00 a.m. followed by Oscar’s memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2005, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. A light lunch with follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated in Oscar’s name. Donations will go to the Iowa City Crisis Center.

Oscar, fondly called “Oz,” “Peanut,” and “Tugger” by his parents, had a great nine months. With his mommy Brenda, he enjoyed when she ate ice cream, danced to the Dave Matthews Band, and watched Cubs games. With mama Jodi, he loved hearing her voice as she read his favorite books – Snuggle Puppy, Runaway Bunny, The Peace Book, and the one she read every night at bedtime, Goodnight Moon. He always let her know how much he liked that one by squirming and rolling around at the sound of “In the great green room…” But his favorite moments were hearing his mommies sing his special song to him – “Oscar, Oscar, Oscar, our sweet little Oscar Ramon. Oscar, Oscar, Oscar, our sweet little Oscar Ramon. Whose boy are you Oscar? Whose boy are you Oscar? You’re mommies’ boy, you’re mommies’ boy, our sweet little Oscar Ramon.”

Oscar is survived by his parents Brenda and Jodi Linley of Iowa City; his golden retriever Bandit; his grandparents Walter and Martha Bruce and Jerry and Nancy Lundquist; his great-grandparents Dado and Marcella Blankenbaker; aunts and uncles Bill and Louise Bruce, Dale and Joanne Bruce, Chad and Kim Lundquist, and Jill and Will Cummings; cousins Amanda, Tommy, Kierra Thomas, April Bruce, Wayne Bruce, Mycah Cummings, Zachary Lundquist and Rachel Lundquist; and a large extended family. He is also survived by many, many friends. Taking turns holding him in heaven are his great-grandmas Bruce, Petro and Lundquist, great-grandpas Bruce, Petro and Lundquist; and his Auntie Christa Matter.

Oscar’s arrival was anticipated by many, and he touched the lives of all those around him. From his sweet hiccups and big roundhouse kicks to his little button nose, Oscar will be loved forever.
