Jimmy (Jim) Duane Farr, 72, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Coralville.

Family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral Service.

Jim was born September 12, 1932, in Iowa Falls, IA. He was the son of Samuel Jay and Vivian (Clark) Farr.

Jim married Roseann (Bock) January 27, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. He is survived by seven children: Debra (Ed) Scherrer of North Liberty, Linda (Dave) Krantz of Washington, Brenda (Steve) Miller of Iowa City, Pat (Tom) Prybil of Riverside, James (Lisa) Farr of Iowa City, Lisa Shalla of Coralville, Teresa (Kevin) Elliott of Iowa City; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers William Farr of Fort Smith, KS, Eugene Farr of Marshalltown, IA, and sister Lorraine Sherman of Maquon, Il. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.

Jim loved beautiful flowers, wonderful sunsets, and uplifting sunrises. He loved animals especially his cat Chester, and had raised St. Bernards for several years. Jim enjoyed photography, family vacations, loved the mountains and found peace at the Grand Canyon. He rode on RAGBRAI several times and always had interesting stories from each trip. He was a scoutmaster for many years in Riverside.

Jim was a hard worker. In his early years, he was a farmhand and a night marshal for the town of Riverside. He worked at Sears and was a printer for Moore Business Forms and NCS. In 1981 he retired from Westinghouse where he printed the Iowa Test ofBasic Skills.

Jim will be greatly missed by his wife, Roseann, and his family.
