Charles Bell passed away at a local hospital late yesterday afternoon, after a short illness.

Deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bell of this city and Mrs. Josephine Kelly, of Rock Island, Ills. Funeral service will be held at three o’clock Thursday afternoon from the home, 624 South Lucas, interment in Oakland cemetery.

Deceased was forty-eight years of age and was born in this city, making his home here practically all his life. He gained notoriety in the prize ring many years ago and followed the sport more or less successfully for a number of years. He fought many bouts in Davenport and other river towns up and down the Mississippi and will be remembered by followers of the sport throughout the country.
