Dorothy Villhauer has joined her husband, Louie J. Villhauer in Heaven. Dorothy, a resident of the Crestview Care Facility in West Branch passed away, Monday, February 21, 2022, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Dorothy was born October 20, 1930, on the family farm east of Solon to Otto and Agnes (Kriel) Buchmayer. She attended Cedar # 9 , a country school, and later the Solon Schools. One day after school she met the handsome Borden ice cream delivery man at Chansky’s Drug Store. They married September 14, 1948, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City.
Members of the greatest generation, Louie and Dorothy built their home in Iowa City and raised their family. Dorothy was a baker for 35 years in the Iowa City School System at Southeast Junior High. She was famous for her light and fluffy cinnamons rolls that the teachers and students greatly enjoyed! She also worked at Senior Pablos. Dorothy loved baking and crocheting—especially making name doilies and afghans. Most of all she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Dorothy is survived by her three children and spouses; daughter, Linda Lou (Danny Walker); sons, Louie Darrell (Marcy) and Kevin John “Kalvin”(Jennifer); 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, her sisters-in-law, Joan Hummer, Marcia Villhauer and numerous nieces , nephews and cousins.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, Louie (April 7, 2000); grandson, Marcus (April 20, 2020); brothers, Raymond and Paul and their spouses and an infant sister, Irene. Dorothy was also proceeded by Louie’s brothers and sisters and their spouses.
