James E. Brokaw, age 75, passed away February 2, 2022, in Iowa City.
James, known by most as Jim, was born January 1, 1947 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Willis and Paula (Mueller) Brokaw. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, he loved both fishing and hunting. His respect for God’s creation was something he passed onto his children. Much of Jim’s adult life he lived in Colorado. Having served in Vietnam as a heavy equipment operator, he carried this skill set into a long and respected career with Park County Road and Bridge Dept. In his retirement years he enjoyed going to the local casinos. More than anything, Jim loved his family. His children meant the world to him. He was a man of few words but expressed his love for family and friends through his actions. His personality and memory will be carried forward by all who loved him.
Jim’s family include his children, Tiffani (Dan) Lane-Dodge, Tyler Brokaw and Carter (Mary) Brokaw; grandchildren, Kayleigh Lane, Kyle Lane, Abigail Dodge, Reva Dawn Lovett, Matthew Day and James Everett Brokaw III; siblings, Kathy (Dave) Smith, LuAnn Harp and Linda (Ray) McCabe. Sadly, James is preceded in death by his son, James Everett Brokaw II; siblings, Kenneth Brokaw and Jeanie Parsons; and his parents, Willis and Paula.
Jim’s family have arranged for a simple cremation in accordance with his wishes. Please continue to keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
