Reverend Beverly Ingham Birtcher, 91, of Tiffin, passed away on January 6, 2022 at Windmill Manor in Coralville.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin with memorial services following at 11:00. Interment will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin.

Bev was born on August 28, 1930 in Enderlin, North Dakota to Kenneth and Fern (Hon) Ingham. Following graduation (as valedictorian!) from Tiffin Independent High School,
Bev married Joseph William Birtcher Sr. (Bill) in 1948 and to this union, four children were born. The couple divorced in 1978.

Early in her career, Bev worked as Clerk Treasurer in Tiffin and also as secretary to the executive director of the Johnson County Conservation Board at Kent Park in Tiffin.

Beverly attended The University of Iowa where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977 with an emphasis in geography and anthropology. She then went on to St. Paul’s School of Theology and graduated in 1994 earning a Masters of Divinity with a specialization in Geronotology.

She then spent a majority of her years serving her Lord as a lay pastor and Reverend and was able to serve many congregations in many different areas of the state. Although she valued her work, the most important thing to Bev was raising her four children.

Bev loved volunteering in her community. She was the church treasurer in Tiffin-Grace United Methodist Church for eight years and United Methodist Women’s president for three. She assisted with Bible school and confirmation classes as well as being an active member with the American Business Women’s Association, Golden Hawks Chapter. Bev was also an original member of the Clown Connection from the Patoral Care Department of St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Bev is survived by her daughters: Josanna (David) Walker and Jayna Dozier as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandson along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Joseph W. Jr. and Bradley Birtcher; brothers: Kenneth (Kenroy) and Richard Ingham and her great granddaughter, Kathryn Birtcher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
