Kenneth “Ken” Chaloupka, 91 of Iowa City passed away at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a short illness on January 11, 2022, with family by his side.

Kenneth Joseph Chaloupka was born May 10, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Edward and Florence (Kabela) Chaloupka. He attended and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. After high school Ken married the love of his life, Joan Neuzil November 28, 1953. Ken served in the US Army from 1951-1959. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ken started working for Moore Business Forms (presently RR Donnelley) until his retirement after 40 years.

Ken’s family includes his wife, Joan Chaloupka; their four children: Gail (Darrell) Roberts, Cheryl (Rick) Evans, Kim (Lisa) Chaloupka, and Diane Chaloupka. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Chad (Natoshia), Jeremy (Carrie), Jessica (Tyler) Jennifer (Ian), Nick, Tyler, and Colin; and four great grandchildren, Chazz, Savanah, Preston, and Easton.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Phyllis Roskup; son, Joseph; daughter, Tina and great granddaughter, Jordan Skyler.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Thursday, January 20, 2022, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military honors will be performed. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his memory.
