Alice L. Roth, 85, longtime Coralville resident, died suddenly Thursday, December 16, 2021, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the First Mennonite Church in Iowa City, Iowa, where she has been a longtime active member. Burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for First Mennonite Church. Alice Louise (Leichty) Roth was born August 29, 1936, in Wayland, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Florence (Christner) Leichty. Alice was one of seven children growing up on the family farm. Alice committed her life to Christ as a young girl and was faithful to the Lord all her life. On September 20, 1958, she married Melvin Roth in Wayland, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2016. The couple made their home in Coralville, Iowa, raising five children. Alice’s passion was her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cooking for others, quilting, and working in her flower beds.

She is survived by her children, Marty Roth (Selina), Becky Van Houwe (Dave), Dan Roth (Teri), Donna Stutsman (Scott), and Joanna Hildreth; her eight grandchildren, Jonathan Van Houwe (Erin), Tiffany Johnson (A.J.), Lauren Van Houwe, Logan Stutsman (Amber), Shelby Vest (Matt), Brooke Stutsman, Jamie Hildreth, and Kelsey Hildreth; one great granddaughter, Jordan Johnson; one sister, Jeanene Roth; three brothers, Clarence Leichty (Julie), Ron Leichty (Karen), and Leland Leichty (Esther); 2 sister-in-laws, Dorothy Leichty and Karen Leichty, and Melvin’s aunt Wilma Stutzman along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, one brother-in-law and two nieces.
