Chester “Chet” G. Duda

Chester “Chet” G. Duda, 49, of West Liberty, died on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics with his wife and mother-in-law by his side.

Chet was born on May 19, 1972, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, the son of John Junior and Janice Catherine (Wyngaard) Duda.

Chet grew up in Little Chute, WI, moved to Milwaukee where he graduated from Marquette University with a Major in Sociology and Minor in Psychology. He then attended William Mitchell School of Law in St. Paul, MN. Upon graduation he was a member of the Minnesota Bar Association and worked in Hibbing and Wilmar MN as a Clerk of the Courts and Prosecuting Attorney. He then went back to school in Platteville, WI, for his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and continued his education at the University of Iowa receiving a Master’s in Human Toxicology and Doctorate in Chemistry. He was most recently employed at Integrated DNA Technologies as a Purification Chemist.

Chet, like his father, was a big supporter of gun safety and the shooting sports. He taught many people in his early years through hunter’s safety classes and was recently on the board for the West Liberty Gun Club.

Chet enjoyed playing all kinds of games with others, especially his best friends, Daniel, and Catherine Rawers of Hinkley, IL.

Other hobbies include but were not limited to reading, wood working, amateur computer engineering and programming, home remodeling, and gardening.

Chet is survived by his wife, Brenda of West Liberty, their three dogs (Izzy, Myst, and Echo), and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Chet’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward Chet’s family in care of Brenda Quick (P.O Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244).
