Shukuru (Patrick) Ngenda was born on January 1,1991 in Bukavu, Congo DRC. Patrick lived to be 30 years old when he was involved in a semi-truck accident on Highway 70 and 220th, Iowa on September 25th, 2021 and the Lord called him home that night at 9:57 pm.
Patrick grew up in Bukavu where he attended highschool and college, studying economics. Patrick spent most of his life doing what he loved, helping people. Patrick was the backbone of the Ngenda family and was first to provide knowledge and advice on life. Patrick was incredibly giving and would spend most of his hours committing to serving others, striving to be like Christ. With the time he had to himself, Patrick enjoyed doing karate and watching soccer. Patrick’s interests included spending time with his siblings and filling any room he entered with laughter and providing a helping hand.
Patrick was remembered to be kind, funny, loving, caring, incredibly giving to anyone he came across, charitable and to know Patrick was to love and know his supportive spirit. He was not only a brother, he took the role as loving father who went above and beyond raising his siblings with such care and attention to everyone’s emotional and material needs. His greatest accomplishments included His giving attitude, work ethic, his relationship and positive perception towards life. His siblings will miss the amount of time spent together as a family. Enjoying meals together and enjoying eachothers company, giving each other advice, and supporting his sibling’s aspirations.
Our family was not expecting Patrick’s loss and are completely devastated by his loss and will feel his absence for eternity. We know that Patrick is not dead but asleep and will be reunited soon.
Patrick is survived by his mother Marie, sister Zawadi, youngest sister, Sylvie, youngest brother Riguen, and beloved dog Pico.
Funeral Services will be held from 10 am- 12 p.m. (noon), Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the River Community Church in Iowa City. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.
