Jacob L. Lumsdon, 36, of Iowa City, died unexpectedly at his home in North Liberty on July 31, 2021.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lensing Funeral Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life and time of sharing will follow at 1:00 pm.

Private burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be directed to a fund to be established to benefit the future education of Jacob’s children.

Jacob was born on November 27, 1984 in Ottumwa, the son of Terry and Rhonda (Grear) Lumsdon. He grew up in North Liberty and attended Northwest Junior High School. He also attended Iowa City West High School and graduated from Shac High School in Iowa City.

Jacob married Katie Croy on February 3, 2016 in Iowa City.

Jacob worked at the University of Iowa in facilities management for the past five years. He loved to cook and grill, listen to music, hang out with friends and spend time with his children. Jacob’s life was full of love and laughter. His pride and joy was his children.

Survivors include his wife, Katie; his children: Jasmine Lumsdon, Jackson Lumsdon, Juniper Lumsdon and Christopher Hopkins; mother, Rhonda Lumsdon of Ottumwa; brother, Jarrod Lumsdon of North Liberty; sister, Jillian Brothers of Cedar Rapids; aunt, Renata Bonner; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry.
