Veva Mary (Droll) Jenn, 105, lifelong resident of Hills passed away July 3, 2021.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 9, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday July 8, 2021 at 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills, Iowa, where the rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hills Fire Department or St. Joseph Catholic Church to be used for masses.

Veva was born on Easter Sunday, April 23, 1916 on the family farm in Riverside, Iowa to Jerome and Genevieve (Knebel) Droll. She attended country schools and St. Mary’s High School in Riverside through 9th grade before working as a cleaning lady for a doctor in Iowa City. Veva married Leo Michael Jenn on November 22, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Iowa. The couple lived on the Jenn family farm, where Veva was a devoted housewife and would raise their 10 children.

Veva was very active in the community, even at 105 years of age. She was a dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 83 years, where she was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church Altar and Rosary, as well as a member of KUB (Know us better) Club and Hills Town and Country.

Veva enjoyed gardening and canning, raising chickens, baking pies, quilting, playing cards, Yahtzee, bingo, and playing slots at the casino. Above all other hobbies of hers, making memories with her family and large extended family is what she loved most. At 105 years old, Veva was as sharp as a tack and could remember more than most could in the family and was able to live on the family farm up until her death.

She is survived by her five sons, Robert Jenn, James Jenn, Larry (Terri) Jenn, Ronald (Ellen) Jenn, Dennis (Peggy) Jenn; one daughter Lori (Kevin) Yoder; son-in-law Francis Gase; sister-in-law Jeanne Droll; 16 grandchildren Richard (Karen) Gase, Betty (Mike) Youngblood, Sue Burger, Leo Kron, Nicki (Steve) Paulsen, Jason (Vojislav) Jenn, Tina (Wayne) Cox, Michael (Kyle) Jenn, Jamie Jenn, Brandon Jenn, Aubray (Derek) Coorough, Brent (Kendra) Jenn, Heather (John) Buzynski, Courtney Jenn, Hanna (Tim) McDowell, Drew Yoder; 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo; daughters Mary Ellen Gase, baby Mary, Roberta Jenn and Luella Jenn; sisters Evelyn Schnoebelen, Luella Beranek, and infant sister Delores, and brothers Verne Droll, Ivo Droll, Walter Droll and Reno Droll.

The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Lukes Hospital ICU and the hospice program at St. Lukes.
