Thomas Paul Louvar passed away May 21, 2021 at his home in North Liberty, Iowa. He was 68 years old.

Tom was born June 11, 1952 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Guy and Betty Louvar. Tom grew up and lived in the Iowa City area, attending Clear Creek High School, and living and working in the North Liberty/Coralville area. He was a jack of all trades and loved working with his hands. He worked jobs ranging from a mechanic, apartment maintenance, quarry supervisor, plumbing and numerous others. He could fix just about anything. When Tom wasn’t working, he loved being outside. He would take his motorcycle out for rides in the Iowa countryside. In the spring he would mushroom hunt with his dogs that also loved enjoyed watching them run in the timber and enjoy his time in the woods. Bird watching was something he loved he loved going and watching the eagles. In front of the condo we had numerous bird feeders he liked to watch. Tom loved woodworking. He would make projects for family and friends out of the sheer love for both the project and those he cared about.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Becky; his son, Adam (Kathrynn Montgomery) Louvar; siblings, Peggy (Jim) Jedlicka, Don (Beth) Louvar and Julie (Everett) Eschen; siblings-in-law, Sherry Bryant, Karen (Mark) Kennedy, Diane (Brad) Kriess, Jennifer Shimon and Leon (Kim) Edwards. Numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly, Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Betty also his in-laws Shirley Edwards and Harry Smith

A simple cremation has been arranged for Tom. A memorial gathering celebrating his life will be held later this spring. Event details will be posted online when they become available.

Memorial contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County.
