Betty “Lou” Winter Beem, 58, died on March 31, 2021 at Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center.

Lou chose to donate her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body program. There are no formal services planned. The family will be announcing a Celebration of Life picnic in the coming months.

She was born March 4, 1963 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Wayne and Zola Tharp Winter. A lifelong Coralville resident, Lou worked as a Dental Hygienist for Dr. Gill for 15 years. Lou was passionate most about work even as a young age, riding her bike to Varsity Cleaners in Coralville for minimum wage of 2.30 per hour.

Survivors include: her husband William “Bill” Beem; her step daughter Kim Fuller and grandchildren Hunter and Mack, all of Tiffin; her mother Zola Cerka and step-father, David Cerka of Crawfordsville, IA; her sister Regina and her husband Benny Feltz of Kalona,IA; her brother John Winter of North Liberty, IA.

She was preceded in death by her father and her sister Shari Fitzjarrell.
