David “Poncho” Kent Hoessli, 78, of Keosauqua, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Keosauqua Health Care Center.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City, Iowa. A celebration of life will take place at a later date, hosted by Jeff and Bev Rodgers at 902 1st Street in Keosauqua, Iowa. Details regarding the celebration of life will be posted when they have been decided. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to a charity of your choice.

David was born on February 9, 1943 in Richmond, Indiana to Lewis and Margaret Hoessli. Majority of his career was spent in Chicago, Illinois, where he worked as a cement truck driver for many years. He also was also a member of Teamsters Union in Chicago. David became a father to his oldest son Scott in 1967, and then again to his youngest son Matt in 1971.

He later moved to Keosauqua in the late 90’s and became well-known by his nickname “Poncho”, along with his black hat, cowboy boots and tight blue jeans. David will be missed walking downtown in Keosauqua with a friendly smile and the places in town that he visited frequently.

Memories of Poncho may be shared on his tribute wall.
