Nancy Marie Medd, 96, of Iowa City, died on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Briarwood Healthcare Center, with her husband by her side.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for the near future when all can come together to celebrate Nancy’s life. Burial will follow at New Windsor Cemetery, New Windsor, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the New Windsor Cemetery.

Nancy was born on May 2, 1924 in New Windsor, IL, the daughter of George and Bernice (Bopp) Roquet. She graduated from New Windsor High School and attended Western Illinois University for a year. Nancy worked for several years at the John Deere Plow Works office in Moline, IL, in the mid 1940’s.

On June 30, 1946, Nancy married Robert R. Medd at New Windsor Presbyterian Church in New Windsor, IL. Soon after, Nancy began her life’s work as a devoted mother and eventually grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Bob have five children: Randy, Deanne, Marcie, Rick, and Rob. Bob and Nancy happily celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last summer.

Nancy was a long-time member of Asbury Methodist Church, Bettendorf, IA, and was an active member of the King’s Daughters organization. She made items for and volunteered extensively at their thrift store. Nancy was also very active in volunteering at the Bettendorf Museum in its early years.

Nancy most enjoyed spending time with family and hosting large family gatherings. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, and making things for her children and grandchildren. Bob and Nancy lived most of their lives in the Quad City area.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Bob; their five children, Randy Medd of Middletown, MD, Deanne Roquet (Dave Geary) of Duluth, MN, Marcie Stark (Dave) of Madison, WI, Rick Medd (Michelle) of Clinton, IA, and Rob Medd (Ruth) of Coralville, IA; grandchildren: Peter Medd (Julie), Hannah Medd Rutzen (Ivan), Erin Geary (Andrea), Jesse Geary (Maria Princen), Nathan Stotlar (Keely), Chris Stark, Alison Booske (Kevin), Dalton Medd, Rob Medd (Jenn Kempe), Emily Medd (Emiliano Lasansky), and six great-grandchildren: Maya, Solomon, Teagan, Calum, Conner, and Henry; sisters-in-law Bert Medd of Moline, IL and Jean Medd of Bettendorf, IA, and numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bernice (Bopp) Roquet, sister Vonda Roquet Forseth, brother George Arnold “Bub” Roquet, and daughter-in-law Cathie Medd.
