Donald Joseph “Joe” Michel, 73, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Mercy Hospital.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, December 29th from 1 to 3 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A family graveside committal will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.

Due to the pandemic, masks must be worn and social distancing respected. Thank you.

Donald Joseph, known to some as Don and to others as Joe, was born November 8, 1947 in Iowa City, the son of Donald Walter and Lois Mae (Villhauer) Michel. He was a 1965 graduate of Regina High School. On October 28, 1989 Joe married Mary Wilson.

Joe was employed by Iowa Fire Equipment, retiring eight years ago. Prior to that he had been employed at Farm Service in Tiffin for over 30 years.

In his younger years Joe like to hunt and fish. He especially enjoyed his Harley motorcycles.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mary, and their son Mark, both of Iowa City; his siblings, Sandra (Richard) Havel of Lone Tree, Kevin (Vickie) Michel of Brighton, and Gary Michel (Joanne Wilson) of Iowa City; brothers and sister-in-law, Kay Stokes, Tom Wilson, Jim Wilson, and Mike (Wendy) Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and his best friend Dodge, his chocolate lab.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
