Mary Marlene Murphy Gorsh went to heaven on Dec. 19, 2020, from complications from heart failure.

Mary was born on November 29, 1936, to Joseph and Gladys (Haney) Murphy, in Iowa City, IA where she lived most of her life. She married Arthur R. Gorsh August 6, 1983 in Oxford, IA. Mary worked for Hometown Dairy for 32 years, retiring in 1998.

Mary had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of "Sweet Adelines" for many years. She also enjoyed doing crochet, cross stitching, playing the piano, reading and spending time with family and friends. And, of course, their beloved dog, Lady Ginger.

Mary is survived by 5 step-daughters, Sue Beaton of Omaha, Nebraska; Kay Maxa of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ann Schulte of Kansas City, Missouri; Sandy (John) Nissley of Greenville, South Carolina; Cindy (Dave) Downes of North Liberty, Iowa; 2 step-sons: Dan (Linda) Gorsh of Oxford, Iowa and John (Dixie) Gorsh of Oxford, Iowa; brothers, George (Corinne) Murphy of Hills, Iowa; Michael (Carolyn) Murphy of Iowa City, Iowa and Dennis Murphy of Las Vegas, Nevada and 1 sister-in-law: Martha Murphy of Las Vegas, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary also has 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; 3 sisters: Patsy Albright, Shirley Polzien and Janet Murphy, brother, Richard Murphy; 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 step- great-grandchild.

Mary's celebration of life will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City, Iowa on December 28, 2020 at 1:00 pm, following a private family visitation. Burial will be at the Oxford Cemetery. The services will be livestreamed for friends and extended family.
