Richard R Cole aka “Dick” or “Richie” passed away peacefully
December 3, 2020 at the Veterans Administrations Hospital in Iowa City
where he had exceptional care.

A private service will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 6pm at

of his life. A live stream will be available for all to join us. This will be
available on www.gayandciha.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will
be established in Dick’s memory. Online condolences, memories and
pictures can be shared on the website.

Dick was born in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Arthur and Cecil
(Smothers) Cole. Dick served in the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS.
Dick then married the love of his life Sandy (Lewis) Cole November 3,
1961, who he adored and loved so much. Dick owned and operated his
own construction business. He is well known for helping all those in the
time of need. Dick then passed his business down to his boys. He still was
out operating machinery and working up until November of this year. As
soon as he got in his machines his hands would stop shaking, this was his
passion.

He enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his grandkids
and great grandkids. He also enjoyed camping, boating on his pontoon and
traveling in his earlier years. There was never a dull moment with Dick.
There was never a time he didn't have a joke to crack, a song to sing or a
melody to whistle. To anyone he met he became a dad, grandpa or friend.
He is very loved and well respected in our community.

Dick is survived by his wife, Sandy Cole and his children. Jerry Cole
(Jeanine), Anita Penifold, Ellen Cole-Amland (Randy), Howard Cole, Eddie
Cole (Cheri), Scott Cole (Shelly), Teresa Deatsch (Bob), Shane Lewis
(Alicia) and the many grandkids and great grandkids.
