Susan Rae Kriz, 71 died Saturday October 10, 2020 in a car accident near Moscow Mills, Missouri.

She was born September 3rd, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. And was the adopted daughter of Robert “Bob” Kriz and Doris Blakesley Kriz. She grew up on Linder Road in Iowa City, graduated from Iowa City High School in 1967, and went on to college at Stephens College in Columbia Missouri and the University of California in Berkeley California. She was an X-ray technician for many years at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Growing up on Linder Road, Sue developed her love for the outdoors and animals of all types. She raised quarter horses, had many dogs, cats, goats and monkeys. She was a person that would help anyone in need, and that always included any four legged friends that needed help or a place to live. The outdoors was her home and freedom. She lived her life in her own unique way, and right up to the end always continued to place others first, with her final gift being an organ and tissue donor.
She is survived by one brother Tom and his wife Pat Kriz, nieces and nephews, Tim and Ruth Kriz, Dave and Lori Kriz, Sarah and Rich Wright, Allison Devers and Adam and Megan Vranek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents, George and Clara Kriz, Dora Blakesley Prince, Ray Blakesley and Walter Prince.

The words from a song, My Way, would tell you much about Sue. Regrets, I’ve had a few, but then again too few to mention. I did what I had to do, and saw them through without exemption. I planned each chartered course, each careful step along the highway. But more, much more than this I did it my way.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Sue’s memory to Miracles in Motion near Swisher, Iowa. To share a thought, memory or condolence with her family please go to the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com
