Stephen Louis Stribley, 68, of Iowa City, who always took refuge in the Lord, was granted his Angel’s wings on August 24, 2020.

Funeral Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.

Stephen was born on May 15, 1952 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Cleo F. and Sophie (Nowakowski) Stribley. He was a graduate of West High School and the University of Iowa.

Steve enjoyed visiting a few residents at a Coralville nursing home. However, after 3 weeks of coaxing, he took in a stray cat that had been hanging around the nursing home. When it was known that the cat needed extensive dental work, an anonymous nursing home resident donated the money for the veterinary bill. Steve was always grateful for the kindness and generosity of others.

Steve is survived by his sister, Carole Ann Brown (Dirk Bingham) and his niece, Marni Sophean Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Sophie Stribley.
