Bonnie Jo Lacina, 78, peacefully passed away at the Bird House – Hospice Home of Johnson County, on August 19, 2020, after her battle with liver disease.

Bonnie had four children, David John (Penny) Lacina of Oxford, Tracy (Steve Riggan) Lacina of North Liberty, Lane Lacina of Oxford, William (Tiffany) Lacina of Homestead, IA; nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Seckel, Joseph (Kati) Burns, Shelby, Cierra, Kaylee, Dakota, Caleb, Cruz and Ryker Lacina, and great-grandchildren, Aydin and Logan Seckel, and Kyndall and Kennedy Burns.

Preceding her in death were her father, Bernard Kelly; stepfather, William Grabin; and mother, Betty Grabin.

She is also survived by her brother, Ronnie (Melody) Kelly of AZ, and their 3 children, Ronnie, Danny and Chris; three step-sisters, Patty Hanson of MT, Brenda Kelly of MT, Pam O’Dell of WA, and her Labradoodle, Daisy.

She wore many hats throughout her lifetime, waitressing at the famous Lark Supper Club, behind the chair as a cosmetologist in her salon “BJ’s Stylist” to her nursing career she did it all with love. She’d be most remembered for her amazing smile and her huge heart. She never met a stranger and once she met you, she treated you like her family. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time caring for all her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and hunting. Most recently while living at Grand Living at Bridgewater she quickly made many friends and enjoyed her “coffee club clan” and working puzzles with them. From there, she moved into the Bird House-Hospice Home of Johnson County. It was not long before everyone there knew who she was. Her laughter and sense of humor will resonate in the halls for months to come.

There will be a time for family and friends to gather from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford concluding with words shared by Bonnie’s family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Bird House – Hospice Home of Johnson County.
