Robert “Bo” Carlton Olson III, 25, passed away on Tuesday August 11th 2020 at home after a nearly 3 year battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his family when he passed. His celebration of life will take place at Brothers Bar & Grill in Iowa City from 2pm to 7pm on Sunday August 16th. Bo was born on April 30th, 1995 in Iowa City, IA. He is a 2013 graduate of City High in Iowa City where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. Bo attended a few classes at Kirkwood Community College. His longest lasting and favorite job was working at Brothers Bar & Grill in Iowa City as a cook, bouncer, and bartender. He met many of his closest friends while employed there. He worked at Hatchet Jack’s in Iowa City, another favorite of his. He also enjoyed his time at Mediacom and as a lab technician at the University of Iowa Hospital in the Pathology department.
Bo enjoyed many hobbies and staying active but his favorites were fishing, hunting, hiking, being in nature, martial arts, and golfing. He also enjoyed studying nutrition and fitness, he applied those benefits to his battle with brain cancer.
Bo is survived by his parents, Rob and Karin Olson; a sister, Kaylyn Olson; a brother-in-law, Dan Green; a fiance, Logan Ely; grandparents, Bob and Margie Olson; grandparents, Warren and Eva Jane Patten; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family, friends, and anyone who would like to celebrate Bo’s life and support his family are welcome to join in at Brothers on Sunday. In lieu of flowers we are accepting donations to distribute to his favorite cancer related charities.
