Mary Margaret Dougherty, 90, died peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at her home. She is now with her Lord and Savior,

No services are planned.

Mary was born April 13, 1930 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Isaac and Edna Lucille (Williams) Diehl. She was a graduate of City High School. On March 14, 1950 Mary married John Dalton Dougherty.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was employed at the Iowa House at the Iowa Memorial Union for many years. Mary loved the outdoors, her flowers and plants, and loved her cats and dogs.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Kathy Geranen of Tulsa, OK. and Diane Dougherty of Iowa City; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Debbie Engler, her granddaughter, Sandra Engler, and her brother, Jerry Diehl.
