Brian Joseph Keenan, 44, of Iowa City died unexpectedly at his home on May 23, 2020.

A celebration of life will be held soon with the date and time to be determined. Service details will be posted when decided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Brian was born on May 2nd, 1976 in Louisville, Kentucky to James Keenan and Patricia Kebsch, where he spent the majority of his life until moving and settling in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school and attending college, he worked at a multitude of places, most namely retail-based jobs.

He became a father to Tessa "Lacie" Marie Keenan on June 1st, 1999, and then Dominic Joseph Keenan on May 21st, 2001, both of whom became the center of his world. Though time spent with his children brought him so much joy, he also enjoyed traveling, fishing, attending horror conventions, watching sports, collecting classical items, art, and, most of all, spending time with his family; all hobbies in which his children picked up on in their own way.

Brian moved to Iowa City in 2014, working as a manager for K-Mart until the store closed permanently. Not long after, he found a place and a sort of second home in Mass Markets, where he was most recently working as Training Manager. It was not hard to become friends with Brian as he was very friendly, had a good sense of humor and was always willing to help others. He developed many friendships over the course of his life and most certainly will be missed for the person he was.

He is survived by his daughter, Tessa Keenan of Iowa; his son, Dominic Keenan of New Jersey; three siblings, Jaquelyn Keenan, Elizabeth Kebsch, and Allie Keenan. He is also survived by his significant other, Leslie Gerrety of Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather.
