Rita M. Thatcher, 72, of Williamsburg, died on Wednesday, May 6 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 11 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa, with Father Robert Cloos officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rita’s GoFundMe page ( http://tiny.cc/qiyooz ).

Rita was born on January 3, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter of William “Bill” R. and Gretchen Margaret Mary (Kleopfer) Spratt. Rita grew up in the Oxford area and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford.

She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She enjoyed books, especially mystery novels, had an extensive Nike shoe collection, and liked to watch General Hospital and the Young and the Restless. She was a proud Democrat and liked to spend time cooking.

For 39 years Rita worked at the Landmark restaurant in Williamsburg. She loved spending time with her family and her Landmark work family. She will be missed by all.

Rita is survived by her three daughters: Becky Thatcher, Barbara Thatcher and Bonny Ronan; her grandchildren, Luke, Ben, and Gavin; her siblings, Dorothy Spratt of Iowa City and William “Bill” Spratt of Lakewood, WA. Rita was also survived by numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Gretchen Spratt.
