Lucille C. Miller, 90, formerly of 612 Kirkwood Avenue died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Funeral Services to celebrate Lucille’s life will be held Friday, May 27, 2005 at 11AM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with the Rev. Paul Akin officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Thursday at the funeral home, where a reception will follow the funeral. A memorial fund has been established.

Lucille was born March 10, 1915 in Iowa City, the daughter of Cecil and Clara Rayner Mullinnix. She was raised in rural Johnson County, near Hills and Lone Tree. Lucille married Claude Miller on July 18, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri. He died in 1947.

Lucille was a waitress for many years in restaurants in North Liberty including The Lighthouse and later worked at Kirlin’s in Sycamore Mall. Lucille was also a property manager and always treated her tenants as family.

She had a strong work ethic and retained her youthful attitude. Lucille will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Lucille was a member of First United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose and the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.

Lucille is survived by her daughter Clarissa “Carrie” Miller of Iowa City; two grandsons, Jay (Tammy) Chelf of Davenport and Kelly Chelf of Hollywood, Florida; three great grandchildren Megan and John Chelf of Iowa City and Carly Chelf of Davenport;
and nieces and nephew, Claudia Gaul of Edmond, Oklahoma, Pam Patterson of Long Beach, California, Janet Tedesco of Seal Beach, California, Shirley Ranshaw, Caroline Hammer, Darryl Thomas and Patricia Thomas all of Iowa City and Linda Milder of Columbus Junction.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters Marcella Thomas and Gladys Hopkins.
