Irving Burge Weber, 96, of 421 Melrose Court, died Sunday, March 16, 1997 at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville, after a short illness.

Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City with the Rev. Dick Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday at George L. Gay Funeral Home and Crematorium. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Irving B. Weber School or the Iowa Hawkeye Swim Club Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Weber was born Dec 19, 1900 in Iowa City to Edward H. and Grace Valentine (Burge) Weber. He graduated from City High School in 1918 and the University of Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1922. He married Martha Thoren Whiteside on Feb. 19, 1926 in Ackley.

He was Manager of the Sidwell Dairy Company in Iowa City and founded Quality Chekd Dairy Products Association, where he served as President for 25 years.He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa City Lions Club, Iowa National Letterman's Club, and the Iowa Athletic Hall of Fame; and served two terms as President on the Iowa City Board of Education.

Survivors include his wife, one son and his wife, Willis and Dee Weber of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
