A 53-year-old Solon service station operator died in Iowa City Aug. 18 of injuries suffered in a fall Aug. 16 at a Solon tavern.

Dead is Russell J. Heinsius, who operated Rusty's D-X service station.

Authorities said he fell down the basement stairs at Kessler's tavern late Friday afternoon and struck his head. He died of head injuries at 1:20 a.m. Sunday at University hospital in Iowa City.

Heinsius was born May 9, 1910, at Solon, the son of Emil and Mary Ruth Runyon Heinsius. He lived with his mother and a daughter, Ruth Ann. His father preceded him in death.

Other survivors are 2 sons, James in the army in Germany and Charles of Morley; 2 sisters, Mrs. Agnes Kornetsky of Ft. Atkinson, Wis., and Mrs. Margaret Palmer of Tipton; and a brother, Eugene of Solon.

Funeral services were Aug. 21 in Solon with burial in Oakland cemetery at Solon.
