Kandy Sue Cummins, 68, of Iowa City passed away January 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

A memorial service will be held January 25, 2020 at 11:00 am at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. Celebrating Kandy’s life, a reception will follow the service at the VFW in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

Kandy was born December 14, 1951 in North English, Iowa to Edgar Rufus and Lillie Elizabeth (Hall) Cobb. She grew up in North English and graduated from English Valley High School before attending Kirkwood Community College.

She worked for Sheller Globe for 25 years before owning Kandy Land. She also worked at VFW and did not give up working until she physically couldn’t anymore, due to the cancer.
Kandy has lived in Iowa City since 1974, where she met Timothy Bock. The two were friends before they began dating and spent many memorable years together.

It was important to Kandy that those around her were having a good time and was known for her delicious cooking. Kandy loved being a mother but there was nothing she loved more than being a grandma, and her grandkids loved having her as their grandma.

Survivors include her siblings, Donald (Deb) Cobb of Marengo and Joan Cobb-Vinton of Iowa City; three daughters, Dionne Harr of Iowa City, Amanda Leffler of Iowa City and Samantha (Lance) King of Waukee; six grandchildren, Nathan (Sunny) Turner, Dustin Turner, Andrew Turner, Miranda McCroskey, Nolan King and Bennett King; eight great grandchildren and her significant other, Tim “Bones” Bock of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings, Sam Cobb, and Shirley Fetzer.
