Jacob Lackender, 76, of Solon died at 9:15 a.m. Feb. 28 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.

Funeral services were March 2 at Solon. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Iowa City.

Mr. Lackender was born July 3, 1886, near Sharon Center, the son of Abraham and Barbara Lackender.

He was married to Emma Vitosh and spent his entire life farming near Iowa City. She preceded him in death 16 years ago.

Mr. Lackender had lived in Solon the past 7 years following his retirement.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. John T. Doyle, Lexington, Mass., and Mrs. James Wilson, Solon; a sister, Mrs. Kate Ressler, Spirit Lake; a brother, Roy Lackender, Iowa City, and 15 grandchildren.

A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
